Biography
The
Royers' pastoral and teaching ministries of three decades in the USA,
seasoned with missionary ministry in Kenya, provided experience and
insight for laying the foundation for the United Apostolic Church of
Uganda. Stepping into a country recuperating from more than two decades
of civil, economic and spiritual devastation, the Royers found
themselves challenged.
Soon after
registering the church, the Royers launched into Mobile Bible School
ministries (two-week programs involving 60 hours of study) and
extensive travel to strengthen and encourage the village pastors and to
promote church growth. To enhance training and evangelism, the
Royers printed 18 books plus over 450,000 printed sheets of tracts,
distributed hand-cranked tape players for bilingual cassette tapes, and built portable, tent-frame buildings for MBS accommodations.
In June 1998 the Royers opened a new church in Kampala to serve as a model and outreach to the nation.
